One of tabii’s most talked-about productions, Gassal (international title The Late Offices), celebrated a new chapter with a prestigious launch in Istanbul. The event was held at The Seed, the elegant venue within the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in Sarıyer. Led by Ahmet Kural and Hande Soral, the cast gathered alongside TRT Director General Prof. Dr. Zahid Sobacı and many prominent names from the media world for this special evening. At eventvideom, we captured every moment of the night through our photography and video lenses.
What is Gassal (The Late Offices) about?
Gassal is an original dark-comedy-drama on TRT’s international streaming platform tabii. The story follows Baki, whose profession is that of a gassal — the person who performs the Islamic ritual washing of the deceased. Isolated and withdrawn in his thirties, Baki is confronted by an unsettling question after coming face to face with death: who will wash his body when he is gone? That question sets him on a journey to reshape his life, reconnect with society, and rediscover meaning.
Blending dark humor with genuine emotion, the series became a social-media phenomenon and one of tabii’s most distinctive titles. It is directed by Selçuk Aydemir and written by Sümeyye Karaarslan.
The cast at the launch
The night brought together the faces international audiences follow:
- Ahmet Kural — the lead, bringing the withdrawn gassal Baki to life; widely known for his roles in hit Turkish comedy films and series.
- Hande Soral — joining the story as Nihan; a beloved actress familiar to international viewers from popular Turkish dramas.
Together with the wider ensemble, they made the launch a genuine gathering of stars.
A prestigious night at The Seed
On the shores of the Bosphorus, the refined atmosphere of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s The Seed gave the launch a distinguished air that matched the series’ thoughtful tone. As guests posed for the cameras on the red carpet, the evening balanced prestige with the warmth of a production that had won audiences over.
While our team captured these portraits, we also documented the natural flow of the night — the cast’s candid conversations, the moments on stage, and the exchanges among the guests. The most valuable frames of a launch often come in unplanned seconds, and capturing them takes being in the right place at the right moment.
The night, captured by eventvideom
For the Gassal launch, eventvideom provided end-to-end event photography, event video and video production. With our experienced crew and multi-camera setup, we captured the red carpet and VIP portraits at press and social-media quality, produced a cinematic aftermovie, documented the speeches and stage moments, and delivered selected frames the same night.
Documenting the launch of a production as original as The Late Offices was a real pleasure for us.
